Lora Uglesic

Hello, my name is Lora Uglesic, and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist. I received my license in 2010 and shortly after I opened a small private practice in the South Bay. Since that time, I have been working primarily with adults, adolescents, children, and families. I also have dedicated a portion of my practice to treating clients referred by the California State Victim’s Compensation Program. I use an eclectic and integrative approach to therapy, adapting different theories and techniques to best address presenting symptoms. My belief is that the foundation to successful treatment is the creation of a strong therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a safe nonjudgmental environment where clients feel supported, treatment goals are developed collaboratively, and interventions are tailored to the individual.

I have always been fascinated by the vast complexity of human emotions and behaviors, including the ways in which we engage in personal growth and change. It’s that fascination that brought me to the field of clinical psychology and ultimately led me to becoming a therapist. I have found that therapy can be integral to the process of developing a deeper understanding of ourselves, others, and the world around us. As the pressures of today increase, it is not uncommon to find that we may need support from time to time. Therapy can assist in building insight into past experiences and current patterns of thought and behavior, helping to create more satisfying relationships, manage stressful situations, heal from trauma, and much more.

In addition to private practice, I have worked in several community mental health settings. Most recently, I was employed as a Sr. Clinical Programs Manager in Intensive Services at a local nonprofit agency. Working in nonprofit environments provided me with extensive experience in clinical oversight and crisis consultation. I am an avid supporter of continuing education, not just to stay current, but to enhance treatment outcomes for clients. Some of the trainings I have completed include topics such as, trauma informed care, reflective practice, attachment, conflict resolution, cognitive behavioral therapy, neurosequential model of therapeutics, mindfulness, etc.

Thank you for taking the time to consider me for your mental health needs. All my best, Lora
